The following are the fields available on the Lawyers/Notaries Tab:

Lawyer/Notary and Conveyancer information must be populated from the library. You cannot type directly into these fields.

Seller - Buyer - Borrower or Lender Lawyer/Notary - Click the blue Seller Lawyer/Notary link to look up the seller lawyer/notary in the library. Enter the last name of the lawyer/notary and select them from the list that appears. If the seller lawyer/notary has branch offices, you will be prompted to select the appropriate branch. Once a lawyer/notary is selected, the seller lawyer/notary company, address, phone and fax fields will complete. 

Seller - Buyer - Borrower or Lender Lawyer/Notary Company - If you do not know the name of the individual lawyer/notary you can enter only the company. Click the blue Seller Lawyer/Notary Company link, enter the firm name and select them from the list that appears. Once a firm is selected, the seller lawyer/notary company, address, phone and fax fields will complete. 

Seller - Buyer - Borrower or Lender Conveyancer - If you would like to note the conveyancer on the file, click the blue Conveyancer link to access the library lookup. Only conveyancers at the firm you have selected will appear in your search results. Only Conveyancers that are econveyance users are in the public library. 

File Number - Enter the file number if applicable.

Connection Status – The Connection status will only appear if you have already made a Connection with the Seller Lawyer/Notary Company. A file connection request will automatically be sent to them when you click Save. A file Connection request expires 7 days after it has been sent. The status of the Connection request will be displayed immediately below the File Number field. The Connection Status results will be one of the following:

  • Requested – indicating that the file Connection request has been sent. You may cancel the request by clicking the blue Cancel link 
  • Connected – indicating the Seller Lawyer/Notary Company has accepted your file Connection request 
  • Declined – indicating the Seller Lawyer/Notary Company has declined your file Connection request. You may send another file Connection request by clicking the blue Request Connection link 
  • Cancelled – indicating that you have cancelled the file Connection request. You may send another file Connection request by clicking the blue Request Connection link 
  • No Response – indicating that 7 days has passed since the file Connection request was sent and it has now expired. You may send another Connection request by clicking the blue Request Connection link. 
  • The date that the Connection Status was last updated will also be displayed. 

 

Quick File Summary - This field will become available if you have entered a representative for the other side that you are Connected to.  Use this field to enter details that will allow the other side to quickly identify the file. The contents of this field will display on the New File Notification that is sent to the other side.

Convert to Seller - Buyer - Borrower or Lender File - This link allows you to change file type. To change the file type, click the link to have all of the information that is entered under the Seller - Buyer - Borrower or Lender Lawyer/Notary moved to the opposite lawyer/notary. Note: You cannot convert a Seller or Buyer file to a Borrower or Lender file.

Tip:  When using the library links, you may find your results quicker if you enter less information. For example, if you are looking up a company called Jones & Smith and you enter Jones And Smith in the lookup, a match will not be found. If you enter Jones in the lookup, you will find the apprioriate entry.
